All training follows ethical, force-free practices aligned with Assistance Dogs International (ADI) standards. Actively pursuing ADI Candidate status.

RLAD is committed to affordable, transparent pricing to ensure disability support services remain accessible. Free initial assessments are offered to all prospective clients. Financial assistance may be available as grant funding and charitable donations grow. No one is turned away solely due to inability to pay.
Our program serves people with a wide range of disabilities. There is no minimum age — families with children of any age may apply.
Psychiatric service dogs trained to interrupt anxiety behaviors, grounding techniques, nightmare interruption, and hypervigilance support.
Dogs trained to retrieve items, open and close doors, assist with balance, and support daily independence tasks.
Dogs trained to alert to seizure onset, diabetic blood sugar changes, cardiac events, and other conditions requiring early warning.
Dogs trained to interrupt repetitive behaviors, provide tethering safety, de-escalate distress, and support social interaction.
Dogs trained for deep pressure therapy, medication reminders, crowd blocking, and tasks that mitigate anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder.
We work with the whole family unit. Caregivers, parents, and support persons are included in handler education and program training throughout.

Client names and identifying details are kept private to protect each handler's medical information.
Currently working on AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Foundations including socialization and basic obedience. Assessment completed and signed on for the full program.

Ruff Love Assistance Dogs was founded by Synethia Sutphin, a professional dog trainer with over three decades of experience across service dog training, guide dog development, search and rescue, and therapy dog certification.
Our primary service area is Tooele County and surrounding communities in Northern Utah.
No minimum age. Families with children of any age may apply.
Initial assessments are always free. Training fees are affordable and transparent, based on actual program costs. Financial assistance may be available as grant funding grows. No one is turned away solely due to inability to pay.
No breed restrictions. We assess each dog individually for temperament, health, and trainability during the free evaluation.
We work with a wide range of physical, psychiatric, and neurological disabilities including PTSD, TBI, mobility impairments, autism, seizure disorders, and more. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
An owner-trained assistance dog is one that you train yourself under the guidance of a professional trainer, rather than receiving a pre-trained dog from a program. This model allows you to build on your existing bond and develop tasks specific to your disability.
